“For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
Globally, more people in more countries celebrate Christmas than any other holiday. It is a season of family and friends, a time when strangers greet one another with Merry Christmas and marvel at the message that hymns like the famous O’ Holy Night proclaim.
“The stars are brightly shining, it is the night of our dear Savior’s birth. Long lay the world in sin and error pining, till He appeared, and the soul felt its worth. The thrill of hope, the weary world rejoices, for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.”
Does it seem odd that a Christmas carol includes a message to a weary world? It should not. Hiding behind the merrymaking of bright lights and rounds of parties is a frustrated, worn down, and burdened world.
Oh, how our weary world needs reminding of the hope found in the Babe
who came to rescue and to save.
If you’re feeling the weight of the world on your shoulders today, I encourage you to pause this holy season to reflect on the eternal God who stepped into your sin-darkened world. Open your heart and rest awhile in the Word of God and allow His Spirit to replenish your soul with joy.
My prayer is that your joy is contagious and your feet swift to carry God’s glad tidings of good news to all men. May you lift your heart and shout, “Hallelujah! A Savior is born!”
Awaiting His return,
