More Than Conquerors

Romans 8:38

“Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”

As a Christian, we delight in the fact that God’s Word never fails to inspire. These words from the book of Romans were written by the apostle Paul, who knew what it was like to suffer. He boldly proclaimed an all-out victory over the challenges that this world throws our way and that this victory actually positions us as absolute conquerors. But how is this possible? It’s possible because when you and I suffer in any way, shape, or form, God’s Word promptly infuses into us peace and assurance, as well as emotional and spiritual comfort. And here’s why – God’s Word is not of this world and so it is not subject to the powers of this world.

Our faith can never be truly proven to be a reality until it is tested. Real faith, enduring faith, is made in the crucible of life. The value that is gained from weathering a storm of any kind is priceless. Therefore, it is incumbent upon us while we have opportunity, to learn of God’s promises and instill His Word into our hearts and minds in preparation of difficult times.

Finally, we see that “in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” Did you get that? He loves us! The God of the universe, the Creator of heaven and earth, says He loves us. This is an eternal truth. God is not a human and says of Himself that He cannot lie; therefore, His love for us does not wane or weaken. This is good news, because as Christians we can rest in His love. When we are hurting and our emotions cause us to feel alone or even abandoned, we can hold firm to His Word and promises. His love will see us all the way through until the end of life and into His glorious presence forever.
