Acts 2:46-47

So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”

SIMPLE FAITH

How was it possible for the first-century church to experience an ongoing ministry of this depth? Without committees, fundraisers, or social media, these new believers advanced God’s kingdom with only one method: simple faith lived out.

As unorganized and unprofessional as it seems to the modern mind, reliance on the Gospel message of Jesus Christ and His atoning work on the Cross built the Church.

 LIVED OUT

The early church’s faith had an attractiveness because they made knowing the Bible a priority. The Berean believers were especially well-known for this, … they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” (Acts 17:11)

Once God’s Word took hold within their hearts, living it out became natural. The more they got into Jesus, the more Jesus got into them, until they became different from the world around them. Life had a new purpose and meaning. It wasn’t long before those who witnessed the transformation wanted it for themselves.

REACHES OTHERS

The Lord added souls to the Church because they believed the Gospel message that Jesus loved them unto death to purchase their salvation. Christ’s sacrifice draws men in because forgiveness opens wide the door to a whole new life.

God continues to add to His kingdom through those who humbly live out the Gospel. May He find within each of us a desire for nothing more than to make Jesus the focal point of our lives.

IN HIS PRESENCE

Do you belong to Jesus Christ? Have you followed Him only to experience wave after wave of trouble? Are you being tossed by fear and doubt over how it will end? Then insert your name and circumstance into this account and its eventual outcome because the same LORD is with you today.

Rest in His power alone and trust Him to take you over to the other side.

 Awaiting His return,
