Romans 8:38-39“For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” “Look for me” were the words of a father to his son. Recently, I read of a young man who had been raised on a farm in the heart of America. He and his father had learned through thick and thin that they could depend upon one another. However, as the young man grew, so did his interest in city life and business, so he asked his father if he could attend the university. The father knew that if this privilege was granted, it would certainly spell the eventual collapse of the farm and his lifelong efforts. Yet with sacrificial love, permission was granted. Soon his son would be headed for an education he himself had never known. When the momentous day arrived, he dressed in his old blue suit and loaded his boy’s belongings into their old pickup and headed for the train station. Along the way, the young man looked at his father’s well-worn hands and humble demeanor. Admiration swelled up in his heart. His father wasn’t Einstein, but he was a man of integrity and knew how to provide. He was a wise man who loved Jesus and the Bible. The son’s memory began to play like a double-feature with scenes of his childhood on display like a kaleidoscope. The young man fought back tears of heartfelt warmth and appreciation for his father’s sacrifice in letting him venture out in pursuit of a dream. Arriving at the station, the father slowly unloaded the bags as he fumbled for the right words to say. There was awkwardness as they stood together at the depot and embraced. With glee in the son’s eyes, along with a well-disguised tear, he boarded the train. His father smiled and waved good-bye. As the train began to pull away, the son shouted, “I love you Dad and thank you, thanks for everything!” With the talent of a Broadway actor, the father held back his emotions and shouted, “Son, I’ll be standing right here when you come home. Look for me.” It was the father’s response that grabbed my heart. Our Lord is also waiting for us to come home. He loves us and desires to be with all His children. I believe it won’t be long until those who trust and believe in the Lord will all go home. Do you personally know your Creator and Heavenly Father? Are you ready to meet Him? Will you join me in shouting up toward heaven, “I love You Dad and thank You, thanks for everything!” Can you hear Him say back to you, “I’ll be standing right here when you come home. Look for Me!” Let’s look for Him like never before. He is coming again. Pastor Jack
