 1 Samuel 2:10

“The adversaries of the LORD shall be broken in pieces; from heaven He will thunder against them. The LORD will judge the ends of the earth. He will give strength to His king and exalt the horn of His anointed.”

We all can remember a day in our lives when our thoughts toward God were casual and indifferent. We evaluated ourselves and came to the conclusion that we were pretty good people. We figured there were certainly more vile and gross sinners than we ourselves and, so it was our understanding, that if God was to grade on a curve, we’d do okay. After all, as the old saying goes, “we don’t smoke, we don’t chew and we don’t go with girls who do.”

But the Bible states in Galatians 5:19-21, “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Obviously, God does not grade on a curve for He stands in battle array against the sin-driven soul. In fact, the scriptures declare in 1 Samuel 2:10 that God will break His adversaries into pieces! Here is pure theology: all those who refuse to turn to Jesus Christ for their salvation before their death will suffer forever outside of Him. They will be alone and isolated in a black eternity. On the other hand, all those who choose to follow Christ and instead flee from the wrath to come will find forgiveness and acceptance in Him.

Choices govern our lives everyday, but the greatest choice we have to make will affect us for all of eternity. So, what is your decision regarding Jesus today? Have you come to Him as a repentant sinner in need of His cleansing? If so, you are exempt from His wrath and are no longer His adversary, but His friend.
