Isaiah 66:8

“Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.”

This prophecy is three thousand years old and it is remarkable, sobering and altogether awesome. The prophet spoke of the nation of Israel in the latter days of human history. The LORD, through Isaiah, predicted a never before seen event that would take place before all of the world – an event that would start Israel’s prophetic time clock ticking again and would eventually usher in the return of Jesus Christ. 

In Isaiah 66, Isaiah prophesied that the country Israel would be born in one day and that the nation Israel would be brought back in a moment’s time. This is exactly what happened in New York on the morning of May 14, 1948. By a United Nations’ declaration, Israel reappeared on the map with a stroke of the pen and in one day, the world heard the announcement, “Israel is back home!” It was a day when the world wept with astonishment and joy for the rebirth of the Jewish State. Israel had long ago been driven from her borders in the year 70 AD and the Jewish people had ceased to be a nation. Yet, against all odds and in the face of Hitler and Stalin, the LORD kept His appointment with this little nation. 

God is able to do great and awesome things. Will you allow Him to take control so that He can fulfill His will in your life as He is doing with the nation of Israel even today?
