Luke 11:9

“I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.”

Jesus promises, “Seek, and you will find.” But in this 21st-century culture of hurry up and rush, we are often distracted by things that rob us of the seeking He desires. We lose so much of that which has value to the moment’s frantic urgency. Here in this verse, there is a hint, perhaps even a great shout in our direction, announcing that God has so much more for us—an infinite amount of more.

Such generosity makes me wonder why we are resigned to having so little of what God wants to give, of spiritually subsisting on a meager diet of crumbs. Why do we take such small strides in our walk with Him? Is it not because we fail to seek Him as we ought? Shouldn’t we take His invitation seriously when the Lord has promised a storehouse of good things to those who ask? And why not knock when the Lord holds my soul’s satisfaction in His outstretched hand?

Believer, God stands behind His door, ready to open it to you—indeed, to all who will knock. And when we do, we’ll discover an unlimited amount of what is needed for our journey. Jesus promised that all things would be made available to God’s children who diligently sought after Him.

In every season or station of life, we must banish anything that lures us into a mediocre, lackluster, or complacent life and direct our efforts to the reckless hot pursuit of Christ by asking, seeking, and knocking.

Awaiting His Return,
