Colossians 1:13-14
“He has delivered us from the power of darkness and has translated us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, Jesus Christ, in whom we have redemption through His blood, even the forgiveness of our sins.”
You know, we sure do love our freedoms and our liberties. But truth be told, there is a weight of guilt that is constant upon each and every man and over time that load seems to become a wicked norm. My friend, if today you are aware of the fact that you have been running, as it were, with bags of sand strapped to your back, imagine how quick and light you would feel if you could unload yourself of those burdens. Is it the weight of sexual sin that hounds you? Is it the deception of material things that promise meaning and status but has left you still acquiring stuff without satisfaction? It’s also possible that the trickery of control has fooled you into trusting in yourself rather than in God. As the years have gone by, perhaps it has been the unrelenting layering of one sinful act upon another that weighs you down-a weight that’s grown to such a point that you have concluded that this must be how life is: heavy, burdensome, and difficult.
There’s good news though! Jesus said He has come to give you life and that more abundantly. He desires to set you free from the weight of sin and guilt that holds you down. The key to unlocking your freedom is receiving the forgiveness that God extends to you through Jesus Christ. Through His death and resurrection, you can experience the power to overcome sin. Will you place your faith and trust in Him today and receive His forgiveness, redemption and the hope that only He can give?
