Romans 15:5
“Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus.”
When you awoke this morning, were you aware that God’s presence was there to meet you? The Scriptures declare that there is no realm where He is not present. The omnipresent God is everywhere at all times; even in the deepest, darkest regions of interstellar space, He is there! Why would your heavenly Father so lovingly communicate the reality of His presence to you? Because the God who comforts knows what happens when we embrace the fullness of His presence.
With divine patience, God works in us the same mind Jesus enjoyed as He walked this earth. “Therefore, if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind” (Philippians 2:1-2).
The apostle Paul exhorted fellow believers to “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus” and “Imitate me as I imitate Christ” (Philippians 2:5, 1 Corinthians 11:1). Imagine if every believer spoke, acted, and touched others’ lives with the same patience, comfort, and compassion as our Lord and Savior!
It is interesting that the Greek words for “comfort” and “Holy Spirit” are the same, paraclete. That tells us that like-mindedness in Christ is not a matter of our strength, but His. Tomorrow, God’s presence will be there as you greet the day. May you allow His Spirit to take full possession of you to go forth in the fullness of His presence.
