Psalm 94:12
“Blessed is the man whom You instruct, O LORD, and teach out of Your law.”
How you view life’s difficulties determines how readily you will receive God’s instruction. Take, for instance, this truth from Hebrews 12:6, “For whom the LORD loves He chastens.” Do you see this statement as an indication that you are out of favor with God? Or can you trust in the possibilities His hand upon you might produce? Years ago, I read a story that may help your perspective.
Though brilliant, the oldest son of the late ambassador to Greece was prone to seizures and hopelessly crippled. Queen Fredericka grew fond of the boy and often invited him to the royal palace to play with her children. One day young Prince Constantine said to his little American friend, “My sister and I have been talking about you, and we have decided that you must be the favorite pupil of Jesus.”
“What do you mean?” the boy asked sadly.
The prince replied, “Well, you know how it is. In school, the best pupil is always given the hardest problem to solve. God gave you the hardest problem of all, so you must be His favorite pupil.”
What problem faces you today? It may be something minor, but tomorrow may bring something seemingly insurmountable.
Believer, every bit of what we experience is for a grand purpose
to which we have yet to discover the answer.
We would be wise if we viewed our trials as temporary things refining us for heaven and working for us “a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” (2 Corinthians 4:17)
Remember, our present hardships will soon be swallowed up by our Father’s eternal joy.
