Psalm 118:1, 29““Oh, give thanks to the LORD, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” We have been invited, even encouraged, to give love to our precious Lord and husband-to-be, Jesus. When I read this Psalm, I am brought to an immediate place of security and peace because of its structure. First, notice how the verse greets you with a kiss of kindness, “For He is good!” What is implied here is that His love for you is an active love and that it will continue to be so for all of eternity because His love is everlasting. Secondly, observe that the Psalm closes with the very same expression that it opened with, “For His mercy endures forever.” Mercy will always be the willing hand that’s extended to help in any relationship. Mercy means not getting what we deserve, which is judgment. Mercy is a close friend to love and love takes no delight in judgment. Jesus is good, God is good and the Spirit is good! Loving goodness should spawn within us abounding appreciation and thankfulness toward our loving, gracious God. In order for us to put this into practice, we must make plans to steal away from the rush of the day and spend time alone with Him. Meditate in His Word, worship, pray and give thanks to Him, for He is worthy. Then listen carefully, all you who are engaged to the King of Kings. Listen to what He is about to whisper to you, “His mercy endures forever.” If you seek Him, He will be found by you and you will know His great love and mercy for “He is good!” Pastor Jack Have you been blessed by Pastor Jack’s Devotions?
