Psalm 90:12
“So teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.“
The Bible teaches that each one of us has been issued a certain number of days by God Almighty. Whenever death comes to someone, it comes on the exact day that the Eternal has decreed it and He alone knows that day. We do not know the hour of our departure, but we have been encouraged to number the days that He has allotted to us. In other words, everyday that we awake we should be aware of the fact that it is a gift from God and thus we ought to be investing our lives in the things of God and in the lives of others, realizing that today could very well be our last upon this earth.
No matter your age, you are one day closer to the day that has been ordained for you. Why does He want us to number our days? The psalmist tells us it is so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. We are not to be paranoid, walking around worrying about what the day may hold, but rather excited, not wasting the time that has been given to us.
How is your time management? Are there things that you are doing that are wasting time and precious moments between you and the Lord or your loved ones? Are you speaking about His love to those who don’t yet know Him? We must remember that the way we live our lives matter.
My prayer for you, and myself, is that our hearts would grow more and more in tune with the things of God each and every day that we live on this earth. May we see maturity in our walks and in our lives as we become more wise and loving towards Him and others around us.
