 Philippians 3:13-14

“Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”

In Arizona, there is a river whose bed is filled with quicksand. You may walk safely into the riverbed as long as you keep moving forward. The moment you stop though, the treacherous quicksand will begin to pull you down.

How similar the world is to that river. We are encouraged to go forward in our Christian pilgrimage or else we will sink. Some of us might think we are doing okay because we haven’t gone back to the ways of the world, but are we moving forward in the Lord?

It is my prayer that you are growing and moving forward in your walk. I hope that you are not the same man or woman that you were a year ago. Charles Spurgeon proclaimed, “Go forward or be lost!”

May we, in these last days, be very careful to see to it that drawing close to Jesus is our primary goal.
