Proverbs 3:24-26“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the LORD will be your confidence, and will keep your foot from being caught.” Terrorism can come in many forms. The terrorism of our day, since September 11th, is mostly thought of in terms of suicidal bombers and loyal Islamists launching jihad. Even our law enforcement officials tell us that it’s not a matter of if there will be another terror attack against us, but when. As if that weren’t enough, America is being threatened daily around the world from the likes of radical extremists in the Middle East to nations to our south. Let’s be honest, just hearing about this news could terrorize us. But take heart, believer; there is no need for us to be overwhelmed. Even if these threats materialize, there is a greater Power. Jesus said for us not to fear what any man could do to us because such actions are limited. Yet, God’s power is unlimited and eternal. Rather than be fearful, it is better to be in awe of God. Don’t let the looming fear of terrorism keep you from the comfort of God. The Lord has all these things under His watchful eye and should some calamity happen, know this; it’s not a surprise to the Lord for He knows all things! Remember this, “When you lie down, you will not be afraid; yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet. Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes; for the LORD will be your confidence.” Jesus said, “When you begin to see these things look up because your redemption draws near.” That’s my confidence; is it yours today?
