Matthew 24:7
“For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.”
Seismos is the Greek word for earthquake. The word means a commotion, upheaval, and storm. On Monday, January 17, 1994, at 4:31 a.m., a seismos occurred in Southern California nine miles below the earth’s surface. The primary wave took approximately three milliseconds to reach those who slept peacefully, unaware of the racing calamity.
For most of us, it was yet another wild ride on the geological roller coaster. For others, it was THE BIG ONE. In the pre-dawn darkness, lives were changed—some forever.
The Bible indicates that the Last Days will see an escalation in life-altering, potentially ruinous events, yet Scripture reminds us of a beautiful promise. When prayer replaces worry amidst life’s commotion and upheaval, God supplies a great abiding peace that surpasses human understanding (Philippians 4:7).
The Lord knows what tomorrow holds. Turn to Him in hopeful expectation, confident that His peace will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Awaiting His Return,
