1 Corinthians 2:4“And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words…” Paul the Apostle was a speaker par excellence, schooled by the finest scholars the world could offer. He could out-talk the best of them with few words and leave them all scratching their heads. Yet the man, Paul had a healthy respect for the kingdom in which he warred. The kingdom of God is not successful by how well we present our opening arguments or deliver that crushing bit of logic in a final debate. Rather, as Christians, we should not only have the answers, but be able to deliver those answers to any who ask us. It is not by excellent speech or persuasive oration that this takes place. The power lies in the Word of God being proclaimed. Paul told Timothy to “Preach the word,” (2 Timothy 4:2). Let’s make sure we understand what we preach. Let’s leave ourselves out of the message and give them the only thing that counts – God’s Word. Pastor Jack
