Description
Faith without works cannot be called faith. Faith without works is dead and a dead faith is worse than no faith at all. Faith must work; it must produce; it must be visible. Faith inspires action. Throughout his epistle to Jewish believers, James integrates faith and everyday practical experience by stressing that true faith must manifest itself in works of faith. Therefore, it expresses itself through practical goodness; and hence, James argues that works are not a means of salvation, but rather the product of salvation.
Through this study we find comfort in how James addresses the reality of difficulties experienced within the life of every believer and the exhortation to persevere knowing that the testing of our faith produces a rich harvest, so that we may be “complete, lacking nothing.”
