Joppa, or Jaffa, was the very port where Jonah boarded a ship to flee from the Lord as he headed to Tarshish. Large rafts of cedar trees from Lebanon were floated to this location en route to Jerusalem for the construction of Solomon’s Temple. (Jonah 1:3; 2 Chronicles 2:16).
