BRING THEM TO JESUS

““‘Teacher, I brought You my son, who has a mute spirit. And wherever it seizes him, it throws him down; he foams at the mouth, gnashes his teeth, and becomes rigid. So I spoke to Your disciples, that they should cast it out, but they could not.’ He answered him and said, ‘O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I bear with you? Bring him to Me.’ . . . Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!'”“

What a sad situation for this poor disappointed father. His son was in the worst possible condition, and no doubt he felt the same after all attempts to save his boy had failed. But thankfully, Jesus was near and the father believed by faith when Jesus said, “Bring him to Me.”

Our children are a precious gift from God; however, much anxiety comes with the responsibilities of parenting. Our children bring countless joys to our lives and at other times profound heartache. They may be filled with the Spirit of God or overcome with the spirit of rebellion. In any case, the Word of God gives us one great healing remedy for all their ills, “Bring him (them) to Me.”

While they are yet babes, we must pray often and consistently for our children. As cute as they are, the sin nature is present within them so begin interceding for them in prayer in their early years. Our caring cries in prayer should precede them every day of their lives. We may witness strange things while they are in the awkward and trying teen years. When they are grown they may fall into sin with resistance against God. It is then that our hearts will break, but we must remember the Great Physician’s words “Bring them to Me.”

Don’t panic parent! Don’t despair. The answer is still the same…Jesus still says to us, “Bring them to Me.” Never stop praying until they cease to breathe. Let us hasten to commit our children to the Lord remembering He waits to meet with us on their behalf. No case is hopeless while Jesus yet lives!
