“I will mention the lovingkindnesses of the LORD and the praises of the LORD, according to all that the LORD has bestowed on us…”

A few weeks ago, I was walking in the hills near my home and came to an old oak tree that has now become the logo for the city of Chino Hills in Southern California. As I passed by, I was reminded of a memory. In 1986, we moved from Costa Mesa to what would later become the city of Chino Hills. Back then there were fewer roads and a lot less people. I well remember moving into our house on a warm, summer Saturday. The next day was Sunday and my wife and I, and our two young daughters, were too tired to make the trek back down to Costa Mesa to our home church, so we decided to take a walk around our new surroundings. It was a picture-perfect day with amazing views of the mountains and the sprawling valley below. As we came to that beautiful oak tree, we felt the desire to pray so we held up our hands to the Lord. We boldly asked Him to deliver the hills and valley into His hands and for His glory. We also asked Him that if He could use us in any way to accomplish this, we were willing. As I look at that great oak tree that is still there today, it causes me to thank the Lord for His amazing faithfulness.

My dear Christian, pray boldly because you have a wonderful God who is kind and worthy of your praise. Recall and count the many ways He has blessed your life and speak of His greatness and His lovingkindness. Trust Him to do all that He pleases in your life.
