Genesis 4:26

“Then men began to call on the name of the LORD.”

Not long after Eden and its blessings came the sin and sorrow of man’s new fallen order. The Genesis record shows that man without God slips fast and far away from the One who created Him. Yet, when all seemed hopelessly doomed, there came a ray of hope piercing the darkness of man’s soul – awakened by the spark of revival. “Then men began to call upon the name of the LORD.”

 A LONGING

There is something left from the Garden that encourages us to seek God, latent though it may be. Awaiting revival, it is as if the soul is longing for its lost origin. Even the meanest of sinners, when brought to the place of overwhelming pressure, are tempted to pray.

Let me urge you that while the day is young, make time to pray. Call out to Him like never before.

 Charles Spurgeon wrote:

“…prayer is the lisping of every believing infant, the shout of every fighting believer, the requiem of every dying soul. Prayer is the breath, the watchword, the comfort, the strength, the honor of every Christian. If thou be a child of God, thou wilt seek thy Father’s face.”

 DON’T DELAY

Don’t delay until troubles come. Don’t wait for things to become unbearable before you remember to cry out to your Lord. Call upon Him now and let your time of renewal carry you through the toils of today and beyond.

 Awaiting His return,
