1 Thessalonians 4:17-5:3
“Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words. But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you. For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.”
Can you feel it? Are you sensing deep within that the season is changing and soon God will interrupt our lives?
With each passing day, there is an overwhelming awareness among Jesus’ followers that the glorious day of His coming for the church is at hand. We will not be in the dark concerning His appearance. We will not be surprised when the trumpet blast sounds. Those looking for Christ Jesus will see Him and, in the twinkling of an eye, be changed.
The apostle Paul gives us a key to this last days scenario by saying it will happen when the world is preoccupied with the matters at hand. Is this not true of the time in which we live? It is, and I ask you, “How can we sit idle at this last hour when so many will not meet Jesus in the air?”
God never calls believers to a spectator type of Christianity while awaiting the rapture. Yes, our spiritual eyes should be fixed upward toward our heavenly destination, but not to the neglect of those headed straight to a hellish eternity. The promise of the soon appearance of Jesus Christ should galvanize us to evangelize the world by whatever means possible.
We who enjoy fellowship with Christ through the power of the gospel and the Holy Spirit must be fully alert to signs pointing to the end. Have you readied yourself and others for the coming change? I pray so. Jesus could come today!
Awaiting His Return,
