2 Peter 1:2

“Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.”

Christian, God has given you all the grace you will ever need. In fact, His divine favor is so plentiful, it’s been heaped up and multiplied, in order to see you through life. And if that weren’t enough, there is peace waiting to be experienced too. Imagine… a multitude of untroubled, undisturbed well-being offered to you each and every day. In my mind, it’s like some of the abundance I’ve partaken of in Israel when dining with friends.

Middle Easterners have a way of partaking together that we Americans could learn from. I’ve been in homes where tremendous fellowship took place around a table with a basket full of falafel, a tray of hummus, and a loaf of bread. Everyone tears a piece off the same loaf to dip into the hummus. Hands reach out and grab a falafel as the basket is passed. Everyone is ingesting the very same thing without any germaphobe type of fears. The time spent together becomes personal even intimate. As we eat without reservation of the same meal, from the same plates, we symbolically become a part of one another.

Jesus may have had this image in mind when He invited Peter and the other disciples to eat and drink of Him, so that they could abide in Him and He in them. We need to remember that this invitation extends to us today. He’s calling us to sit right beside Him with Bible open or in prayer, partaking of His multitude of grace and peace right here, right now; He in us and we in Him. I pray that your connection with the Savior is always this personal.
