2 Corinthians 3:17

“Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”

When the founders of the United States of America drew up the Declaration of Independence and framed the Constitution, they adopted Martin Luther’s principles. This fact has been openly admitted by many great leaders of our country. Daniel Webster once said, ”The Reformation of Martin Luther introduced the principles of civil liberty into the wilderness of North America.” President McKinley said, ”Luther gave us civil and religious liberty.” Henry Ward Beecher said, “Our civil liberty is the result of the open Bible.” In other words, ”…where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.”There was a time when America could think clearly and reason in such a way, that the rest of the world marveled at her convictions and longed to be like her. Untold millions of people fled their distant homelands to experience the only country in the modern world to have the passion and the wisdom to boast that she knew that her purpose for being was… “In God we trust.”

America can no longer boast of her freedoms. America can no longer stand against the tide of evil and the injustice done to her children for she has become confused over what is right and what is wrong. She, in fact, listens to those who say that what was wrong can now be called right and what was called right, is now in most cases, wrong.

“America, America, God shed His grace on thee.” When all of these conflicts be stilled, will America still trust in Thee? Only God knows. May God renew our commitment to pray, stand, and speak the liberating message of Christ while we are still able to do so.
