2 PETER 2:1-2

But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them, and bring on themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

How important is truth to you? Throughout history, men and women have stood for truth, even if it cost them their lives. Many seek to hide it and ignore it, but truth is eternal and is a characteristic of God Himself. Whenever truth is neglected, error will creep in.

We are living in an age when truth is under attack and liberalism is growing. We are to know truth and endorse it, but first we must possess it. The cults and pseudo-Christian communities are increasing in these days, but it’s not because of truth. Jesus warned that lies would be the foundation of many cults in the last days. He warned that a key tone of their message would be the offering of another messiah, another savior.

For example, in the non-Christian cult of Mormonism, each faithful follower can be baptized in place of the dead. This doctrine, though appearing benign, is an offense to the foundational truth of salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ. In such a case, who becomes the redeemer and savior? Is it not the one who is baptized for the other? We must be diligent and on guard as to what the truth is. You won’t recognize a lie if you don’t know what the truth is. Know the Bible and apply it in your life. Only His Word can bring a lost, legalistic and religious soul to the saving knowledge of His truth. May He use you as an instrument to bring that truth to all who need it.
