1 Peter 1:3-4

“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you.”

As Christians, we have a new identity, one as a citizen of the Father’s kingdom. It is through the death and resurrection of Christ that we have become heirs to this living hope and glorious inheritance. This active, living hope is part of our testimony and witness as believers.

The three words the Apostle Peter uses to describe our inheritance are: incorruptible, undefiled, and unfading. This means that your future heavenly existence in all its forms and in all its experiences can never be corrupted, defiled, or worn out.

What a blessed hope and confidence has been afforded unto us! Rejoice in knowing that your heavenly Father delights in His children, that He is merciful, generous, and will give you all that He has promised – we truly have a living hope because we have a living God!
