 Psalm 19:1

“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament shows His handiwork.”

The Hebrew word for declare means to tell a story or to inscribe a message. The Lord challenged the ancient patriarch Job to understand the meaning of the Mazzaroth. The Mazzaroth is the story or message of redemption, which has been recorded for us in the heavens above.

When conquering Israel, the Babylonians set out to destroy all that was Judaic, namely that Jehovah God is Lord. One of the ways that they did this was to change the name and meaning of the Mazzaroth to its new Babylonian name, Zodiac. In the Holy Scriptures, the heavens announce that a “virgin” would conceive and bear a Son, so Babylonians changed the meaning and name of that particular constellation to Virgo. Rather than the heavens announcing that God would send the Lion from the tribe of Judah to save the world, they renamed that constellation Leo. Systematically, paganism attempted to wash away the reality that God is Lord. But you needn’t be fooled.

Tonight when the air is still and the night is at its darkest, step outside and look up. Take some time to quietly watch the heavens above and listen to their message. God is great and He alone is all-powerful and no attempt by man will ever quench His existence.

Do you know anyone who is trying to explain away God’s existence? Ask them why they are trying to do such a thing and then determine to pray for them because they are fighting a losing battle. It is by losing that battle that they will truly win once they see that God is Lord and He is the Creator of all. Think about that tonight when you look up.
