1 Peter 3:18

“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit.”

When Jesus offered you salvation, it was a complete gift that you chose to receive. Your salvation in Him is secure not because of what you have done, but because Christ suffered once for all. Each and every sin was covered by the blood of Jesus on that day two thousand years ago. Through Christ you were made alive by the Spirit.

Jesus Christ has so secured your salvation, since He performed all that was required – the full transaction of redemption! Jesus took the debt you owed to God for breaking His laws. He carried it to His Cross and fully paid it in your place. Now you are able to appear “faultless before the presence of His glory” through the resurrection and redemption of Christ (Jude 1:24b).

In order for death to lay hold of you, there must be some sort of flaw, a thread of fault, or guilt. However, in that moment when death comes to you looking for some sin to lay hold on – it will not be able to. This is because you have been made alive in the Spirit, which means that Jesus Christ has the final word – not death!
