Luke 11:9-10
“So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”
Prayer is how we communicate with God, and we can look at it as having an ongoing conversation with our Lord. He doesn’t need for us to pray, He already knows our desires. However, when we express our heart in prayer, it allows us to dialogue with Him in an intimate way. God desires to bless His children with good gifts and longs to bless those who follow Him.
When we are persistent with our specific prayer requests, God will answer. Jacob was persistent in wrestling with God (Gen. 32), Moses was persistent in interceding for Israel (Ex. 32), Hannah was persistent in asking for a son (1 Sam. 1), and we are to be persistent in prayer as well. God’s answer may be yes, no, or wait, but He will always answer.
Prayer produces in us the character of waiting. The kind of waiting that brings us to the answer and not the answer to us. Prayer reshapes us and our understanding. God brings good even from those answered prayers that have a different result than what we had hoped for.
Continue asking, seeking, and praying with persistence. God will always answer His children’s prayers. Spend time today with Him in prayer and allow Him to speak to you and give you an answer to your prayer. Thank Him for being the Answer and the One who hears the desires of your heart.
