Psalm 139:23-24

“Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.”

When there’s a problem with your heart, you need help, and the sooner the better. Sure, the symptoms can start off small and slight enough to be dismissed, but I guarantee the problem won’t go away without accurate assessment and treatment from a specialist. Now take this truth regarding your physical organ and move it into the spiritual realm. The heart is mentioned over 900 times in the Bible and reflects the core of our inner nature. It’s the place where our will, attitude, and intentions originate; the source of our thoughts, actions and words. In truth, a healthy heart is vital.

Believer, how would you describe the current state of your heart? Is it troubled in any way? If so, turn at once to the Great Physician, who fully comprehends those hidden things, the spiritual pathology if you will, of a man’s heart. A careful reading of Psalm 139 reveals that God understands you in ways far exceeding what you even know of yourself. Your Creator knows the cause of your cares at their deepest level, and by allowing Him unfettered access into that personal place He can begin initiating a cure. Come into His examination room, sit patiently with Bible in hand and heart open. His search may bring uncomfortable truths to light, but the resulting freedom is worth every revelation. In this you can trust, though He may choose to reveal things to you gradually, He delights to respond to your every effort in seeking.

What nagging thing can’t you seem to shake, but want to be free of? A habit, an overwhelming emotion, a besetting sin? Commit your heart to Him with confidence, knowing He’ll lead you in the way everlasting.
