Joshua 23:15

Therefore it shall come to pass…”

We solemnly pledge allegiance to our country with the words, “One Nation Under God.” It is a monumental claim. How could a nation possibly make such a boast? It would have to be a nation and people whose hearts are dedicated to God. It would be a place that loves God’s Word and is committed to seeking His face in everything.

A nation that claims to be “Under God” is a people who submit to God and honor Him.

Are we a nation under God? Let me ask: Is the God of the Bible welcome here anymore? Is this nation humble and fearful that a holy God will one day judge our deeds? Are this nation’s leaders seeking God’s guidance in prayer, and are our judges skilled in true justice and righteousness? Are the Ten Commandments allowed in the public square? I believe you know the answer.

As America continues down the road of decadence and lawlessness, don’t be surprised when one day we awake to find that we have been swept away after abandoning the God who made this country great. Gone from us will be the One in whose name we once prayed and for whose blessings we gave thanks.

While under the leadership of Joshua, Israel was exhorted to be careful not to forget the Lord their God. We would do well to heed his words.

“Therefore it shall come to pass, that as all the good things have come upon you which the LORD your God promised you, so the LORD will bring upon you all harmful things, until He has destroyed you from this good land which the LORD your God has given you. When you have transgressed the covenant of the LORD your God, which He commanded you, and have gone and served other gods, and bowed down to them, then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and you shall perish quickly from the good land which He has given you.”

Joshua 23:15-16

Lord, spare us from disaster. Please forgive us and turn our hearts toward You once again.

Awaiting His return,
