John 3:16-17

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Ready or not, here comes Christmas!

Christmas is unstoppable. It happens each year as it has happened every year for the past 2,000 years. It is God’s proclamation and reminder that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, as His gift to mankind on that first Christmas morning. Jesus reveals God’s unstoppable grace and mercy. Just as the truth of the Bible is inescapable, so is His desire for you to know Him in a deep and personal way. This is the core of the Christian faith that God came down and walked among men to show us the way to heaven.

Unstoppable is His love in that He would come and redeem us from our sad and sinful state. Christmas is the message that God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die a gruesome death and become the sacrifice for all our sins, doing for us what we never could have done for ourselves.

Unstoppable is His ability to forgive any and all sin. We can thank God that He did not delegate our salvation to the merits of a good man, to the loftiness of a heavenly angel or to some prophet, king, or government. Rather, He took upon His own shoulders the weight of our sins and the work of our salvation. This is Christmas. This is His mission. This is unstoppable.

Unstoppable is His truth. The gift of God at Christmas is His announcement of glad tidings to bring joy and peace to all hearts that are open and thirsty. God’s truth never fails. It’s amazing to know that the ancient prophets foretold in the Old Testament scriptures that Jesus Christ, the Messiah, would come on time and exactly as had been promised. No one could stop the first Christmas, and no one ever will be able to stop the great and magnificent fact that Christ came to earth.

Unstoppable is His soon return. Just as the Christ of Christmas came the first time, so He will come again. The Bible proclaims He will return in glory, power, and majesty to judge the world and to establish His kingdom. This too is unstoppable. The Christ of Christmas is the hope of your salvation. He is the hope of mankind. He is the lover of your soul. He is God, Jesus Christ, eternal life. He is Christmas, and He is unstoppable!
