1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

As Christians, we desire to follow Jesus Christ and daily seek God’s will for our lives. However, sometimes we can make this life of discipleship harder than it is intended to be. Each of us has a little variation in the way we look at things. Take for example, the sunglasses that you wear – are the lenses gray, amber or some other tint? Whatever color they are will alter the way your brain processes the object that you are looking at. The same is true with matters of life. If we choose to look at things through the lens of our own understanding, we will find ourselves dissatisfied with life, leaving us feeling confused and unfulfilled. On the other hand, if we choose to look at life and the events of this world through the filtering lens of God’s Word, we are able to see much more clearly. Things seem brighter and there is more of a distinction between the things of this world and the things of eternity.

Through God’s looking glass, the Bible, we not only learn that we are to rejoice, pray and be thankful, but we also begin to understand and know what God’s plan is for our own personal lives. Did you know that the Lord has a unique mission just for you? The question is – are you doing it? Are you moving in a direction in which you are seeking to know His plan? Can you say that you are advancing toward His goal for your life?

The Bible says, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” Let’s see to it that we put these words of life into action within our own lives!
