John 14:1-3

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”

As Christians, we believe in the infallibility of God’s Holy Word and that the Bible is God’s message to mankind, without error. When Jesus encouraged His disciples, He did so by enlightening them through His prophetic word. In the verse above, Jesus spoke of what His vocation would be while He was away in heaven.

Notice that Jesus has been preparing a place for us and He has been doing so for a while. With every day that passes, the anticipation of our sweet union with Him increases. He says, “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.” This is one of the most comforting announcements! Jesus wants us to know that where He is presently, we shall be soon. He wants us to know that He’s been preparing a place for us so that we can be with Him throughout all of eternity. May we all await His return with expectant joy!
