 Genesis 24:58

Then they called Rebekah and said to her, ‘Will you go with this man?’ And she said, ‘I will go.’”

Abraham’s servant, Eliezer was sent looking for a bride for Abraham’s son, Isaac. We read that the Lord God had miraculously directed Eliezer to a beautiful and godly woman named Rebekah. Upon their meeting, he told her of his master’s wonderful attributes and qualities, but he didn’t stop there. He also gave her gifts of great value qualifying his claims regarding his master’s greatness and wealth.

When a few days had passed, Eliezer said, “Rebekah, it’s now time to go to your new home,” but not all were in immediate agreement with him. Her family wanted Rebekah to stay a little longer. No doubt they wanted to enjoy her just one more day, but God had other plans. So they asked Rebekah something like this, “Do you want to just stay here and hang out or do you want to go meet your husband to be?” Her quick response surprised them all when she said, “I will go.”

Rebekah’s actions speak to me as to what the Church’s reaction should be like regarding the coming of Jesus Christ and the rapture of His Church. Our attitude, our words, our actions should all be calculated in light of the fact that we will soon be going home to see our Lord face to face. It is heaven that awaits all who are trusting in Him. It is glory and bliss that will be given to all at His coming. It is no wonder then that my heart shouts in agreement with Rebekah of old that it is time to go. What a glorious day His coming will be!
