Isaiah 58:8-9a

“Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard. Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer; you shall cry, and He will say, ‘Here I am.’”

The Christian life is a progressive experience, as God continually prods and presses in our lives in order to draw us closer, cause growth and deepen our walk with Him. The Lord desires to sanctify and set the Christian apart through discipline and obedience.

The Holy Spirit guides the new believer along with a special grace and regular “feedings” on the Word. However, as time goes on, the Spirit will lead the believer to desire more of the Bible on his or her own. Until eventually, the believer moves from the “milk” of the Word to the “meat” the of Word.

God has placed a desire for spiritual growth inside the life of every believer. However, time spent in the Word shouldn’t become simply routine and predictable, as this could actually hinder your growth. Rather, it is to be purposeful and Spirit led. Disciplines and routines are good and we must have them in our daily walk with Jesus, but remember to allow the Holy Spirit to continually cause your heart to draw near to God, listen to His still small voice, and seek His will in all you do.

Believer, there is no greater foundation than the Bible. There is no greater relationship than the one you have with Jesus. Continue to cultivate and foster a deeper walk with Him and allow God to mold and shape your life as you do so.
