1 Peter 2:1-3

“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”

Remember when you first came to Christ and how there was a longing in your soul? No matter how much you read the Bible or spent time with Jesus, you could never satisfy the longing. You desired the pure milk of the Word – the perfect, clean, untainted Word of God.

Not only is the Bible living and breathing, but it also has the power to change lives! Its purpose is to draw us closer to the Lord and equip us for the Christian life. Spending time with God brings us spiritual development. True spiritual development will unmask the evil in our lives and cause a shift from malice to kindness and from deceit to honesty.

As God is perfecting and preparing us for heaven, all that we experience on earth is part of the refining process, drawing us closer to Jesus. There is a longing in our souls which only Jesus can satisfy. Once we have tasted the goodness of the Lord, we realize there is no comparison! It causes you and me to earnestly long for Him. There is nothing else which will satisfy us like Jesus. Grow in Him as you feed on His Word and as you taste His grace. Keep longing and seeking Jesus until the day we see Him face-to-face.
