2 Chronicles 5:13-14

“…indeed it came to pass, when the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD, and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music, and praised the LORD, saying: ‘For He is good, for His mercy endures forever,’ that the house, the house of the LORD, was filled with a cloud, so that the priests could not continue ministering because of the cloud; for the glory of the LORD filled the house of God.”

When the time came that the temple was finally set in order, and the people gathered to dedicate it unto the Lord, they began with praise. Believer, something happens when we choose to worship. Worship gets God’s attention if it comes from a sacrificial heart, especially when it’s filled with excitement and expectation.

Israel labored hard to build God a house. All had been prepared and made ready. Then the Lord came down and seemingly smiled upon their offering by entering the temple in a cloud of glory. It’s almost as if the Lord couldn’t wait any longer and rushed ahead of the priests. How I love this scene!

Could it be that the Lord was trying to teach us a lesson here? Could it be that our worship affects the eternal God? When we set our hearts to worship, and that worship is costly to us and generous to Him, He is touched.

In the days of old, the Lord required a temple to meet with His people.

Today, the Lord requires people to be His temple.

Are you a Christian? Then this truth is certain: the same God who filled the temple fills you today. Every day of this new year, you will be taking the presence of the Lord with you.

Whether you walk into a meeting, pull up to a new job site, or enter a new endeavor, know that the Spirit of the Lord is with you.

You are the temple of the living God, and the glory of the Lord will shine forth from your life as you worship Him in all you do.

Awaiting His return,
